In short
- We have no server, no accounts and no analytics tool. We receive no data that identifies you.
- Your progress stays on your iPhone. It is not sent anywhere.
- This version shows no ads, sells nothing and does not track you across apps.
- Leaderboards go through Game Center (Apple), if you use it.
- If a future version adds ads, this policy will be updated before it is released.
Dino Nest Privacy Policy
Effective October 13, 2026. Applies to the Dino Nest iPhone app, version 1.0 (no ads, no in-app purchase), and to the pages of its website, benjaminmongin.fr/dinonest.
1. Who is responsible?
Dino Nest is published by Benjamin Mongin — entrepreneur individuel (EI) (a French sole proprietorship, SIRET 811 895 465 00045), an independent developer based in France ("we", "us"). We are the data controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Contact for any question about your data: contact@benjaminmongin.fr. We have not appointed a data protection officer (not required for our activity): write to this address directly.
2. What the game stores on your iPhone, and nowhere else
To work, Dino Nest stores the following only on your iPhone:
| Information | Examples | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Game progress | scores and records, weekly rank, adventure levels, Dino-dex, stars, amber, missions, season, beginner's notebook, unlocked items | Picking up where you left off |
| Preferences | sound, haptics, notifications on or off, tips already seen | Keeping your settings |
| Usage counters | number of sessions and runs, install date, the times you usually open the game, date of the last rating request, notifications opened or not | Pacing what the game offers: notifications at your usual time, a rating request at a good moment |
| Game Center bookkeeping | the list of scores and achievements already sent to Game Center and of runs waiting to be sent, tied to your Game Center player identifier | Never sending anything twice, losing nothing offline |
| Friend duels | the optional nickname (12 characters at most) you choose for your duels, the history of your last 20 duels | Showing your duels and their results |
This information is never sent to us and the game does not sync it with iCloud. It may be included in your iPhone backups (iCloud or computer) depending on your Apple settings; those backups are managed by Apple, not by us.
Important: deleting the app permanently erases your progress. Since we keep no copy, we cannot restore it.
Legal basis: this storage is strictly necessary for the game you chose to use, so it does not require consent (Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
3. No ads, no purchases, no tracking
This version of Dino Nest:
- shows no ads and runs no advertising or audience measurement kit: nothing is sent to an ad network;
- offers no in-app purchase: amber and eggs are earned only by playing;
- does not ask for tracking permission (App Tracking Transparency) and does not use your iPhone's advertising identifier.
If a future version adds ads or a purchase, we will update this policy before it is released, say so in the release notes, and the game will ask for your agreement where the law requires it.
4. Game Center (Apple)
Game Center is optional. If you are signed in to Game Center on your iPhone:
- the game sends your scores (Daily Volcano, Lava Challenge and every finished Free Play run, for the "best" and "this week" leaderboards and friend challenges) and achievements to Apple. They appear on Game Center leaderboards, visible to other players according to your Game Center settings (profile visible to everyone, to friends only, or only to you);
- the game receives from Apple your Game Center nickname, a player identifier specific to our developer account and, to display leaderboards, other players' nicknames and scores. This information stays on your iPhone and is not sent to us;
- friends: only if you allow it when iOS asks ("See my friends" in your record's menu on the home screen), the game reads your Game Center friends list to show the friend just ahead of you. It stays on your iPhone. You can remove this access in the iPhone's Settings;
- Game Center friend challenges: when you challenge friends, Game Center sends the invitation to the friends you pick.
If you are not signed in to Game Center, none of this data is exchanged. Game Center is an Apple service, covered by the Apple Privacy Policy.
5. Notifications
Notifications are optional: the game only asks iOS for permission after you agree in the game ("Yes" on its suggestion, or the Notifications switch in its Settings). They are local notifications, scheduled by the game on your iPhone: at most one a day, around the time you usually play (worked out on the iPhone from your last few launches), about an egg waiting for you, the new Daily Volcano, your streak, the missions, the weekly event or the season. They space out when you stop playing and stop after two notifications in a row are not opened. No server, no push token, no data sent.
To stop them: in the game, Settings › Notifications; or iPhone Settings › Notifications › Dino Nest.
6. Sharing, duels and ratings
- Share cards (score, Dino-dex): only when you tap "Share", the image and text go to the app or person you pick in the iOS share sheet. That service then applies its own rules. If you choose "Save Image", iOS asks for permission to add a photo: the game cannot see your photos.
- Friend duels (the same eggs as you): a duel link or code contains the run's seed, the score, the top creature, the score curve and, if you entered one, your duel nickname (never your Game Center nickname). It contains no identifier of you or your iPhone. Anyone who receives the link sees this information. The link is decoded on the iPhone that opens it; it goes through no server of ours.
- App Store rating: the game may show Apple's rating prompt. Ratings and reviews are handled and published by Apple under your App Store nickname; we may reply publicly.
7. What Apple shares with us
App Store Connect gives us aggregate statistics (downloads, usage by country). If you turned on "Share With App Developers" (iPhone Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple also sends us crash reports and diagnostic data, without your identity. We use them only to fix bugs. You can turn this sharing off at any time in the same place.
8. What we do not do
- No account, no sign-up, no email address requested in the game.
- No ads, no analytics or audience measurement tool, other than what Apple shares with us (section 7).
- No location, no access to your contacts, camera, microphone or photos.
- No chat between players.
- We do not sell your data and do not pass it to anyone.
9. Children and age
Dino Nest is a game for a general audience. It is rated 4+ on the App Store for its content (no violence, nothing upsetting), but it is not designed primarily for children and is not in the App Store's Kids category. The game does not ask for age and does not itself collect any personal data from any player: no account, no chat, no ads, no purchases.
Game Center features (leaderboards, friends, challenges) are Apple's and can be restricted in Screen Time (iPhone Settings › Screen Time › Content & Privacy Restrictions, Game Center section). Any question: contact@benjaminmongin.fr.
10. Retention periods
| Data | Period |
|---|---|
| Game data on the iPhone | Until the app is deleted |
| Emails you send us | As long as needed to handle your request, then at most 3 years after our last exchange |
| Data processed by Apple | Per the Apple Privacy Policy |
11. Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, the right to withdraw your consent at any time and, under French law, the right to give instructions on what happens to your data after your death.
To exercise them, write to contact@benjaminmongin.fr. We reply within one month (extendable by two months for a complex request, in which case we will tell you).
Good to know: since we hold no data about you (apart from any emails you send), in most cases we can only confirm that. Your game data is on your iPhone: you erase it by deleting the app. For Apple data: privacy.apple.com.
If you believe your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, France; www.cnil.fr), or with the data protection authority of your country.
12. Security
Game data is protected by iOS app sandboxing and encryption. Exchanges with Apple are encrypted (HTTPS). We have no server and no player database: there is nothing on our side to breach. Your emails are kept in a secure mailbox that only we can access.
13. This website
The pages of this website (privacy policy, support) use no cookies, no analytics and no external fonts or scripts. The website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, United States — vercel.com. This host may keep technical logs (IP address, date, page requested) for the security of its service, under its own rules.
14. If you live outside the European Union
- United Kingdom: you have the same rights (UK GDPR); authority: the ICO (ico.org.uk).
- Switzerland: you have the rights of the Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP); authority: the FDPIC (edoeb.admin.ch).
- United States (California and other states): we do not sell or share your personal information and we do no targeted advertising. You can write to us to exercise your rights to know and to delete; you will not be treated differently for doing so.
- Brazil: you have the rights provided by the LGPD; authority: the ANPD.
15. Changes
We will update this policy if the game changes (new feature, new partner, arrival of ads). The date at the top shows the latest version. For a significant change, we will say so in the App Store release notes and, where the law requires it, ask for your agreement. Previous versions are available on request.
This English version is a translation of the French original; if they differ, the French version prevails.
